The inaugural meeting of the Bourney/ Bournea Parish Group of Ireland xo Reaching Out was held at Lismackin Hall last week.There was a good attendance. Tim Lee outlined what Ireland xo Reaching Out is about.There was a good discussion about various aspects.Tim Lee was elected Chairman, Michael Costigan vice Chairman, and Mary Madden Secretary. Treasurer is Michael Sheedy, while Liam Doran is PRO.

Return of Thurles Silver Band to Bollington After 31 Years

The Band played at the Garden Fete in the Presentation Convent on Sunday 26th in preparation for its trip to Bollington on July 5th, 6th and 7th for twinning celebrations, travelling with Alice O’Connell and Thurles Urban Council members.

Superintendent Pat Lordan is bidding farewell to Thurles Garda Station, having served here for the last three years. The announcement was made at Thurles District Court on Tuesday last week, with Judge Elizabeth McGrath, Thurles Gardaí and Solicitors all wishing the Corkman the best in his future role as Det Supt at Mullingar Garda Station.
