Visit Nenagh’s Mehall dons county jersey for second time

Visit Nenagh.ie was celebrating for the second time this week after team member Mehall Fitzgerald regained the County Jersey on the third stage of the An Post Ras. Mehall took the blue jersey on the Nenagh-Listowel stage of the event this Tuesday, following up on his taking of it on the first stage from Dublin to Longford on Sunday. He wears it today on the fourth stage, a tough, hilly 153km stage into Glengarriff, County Cork.

HSE defends closure of Nenagh Hospital lab

The HSE has defended its decision to close the laboratory at Nenagh Hospital on the grounds that it is “not sustainable as a stand alone facility”. The lab is due to close this July with 12 staff and all the equipment transferring to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

Tipperary hospitals’ future ‘now has certainty’

Tipperary Fine Gael TD Noel Coonan has welcomed the Higgins’ Report on the Establishment of Hospital Groups and the Small Hospital Framework which was approved by Cabinet last week. The local Fine Gael Deputy said the report brings certainty to the future of Nenagh General Hospital and South Tipperary General Hospital.

Kelly Announces €1.7m Road Funding

Public & Commuter Transport Minister and local TD, Alan Kelly, has announced the provision for €1.7 million worth of road maintenance funding for Tipperary. The funding is part of the first ever national ‘Community Involvement Scheme’ which will see residents work with local authority personnel to ensure drainage and resurfacing works are carried out on rural isolated roads.
